“The natural healing force in each one of us is the greatest force in getting well.” –Hippocrates
The journey of Vazendah started back in October 2016 during a girls’ weekend in New Orleans. I had a chance meeting with a mystical man named Oteyaba Cetawba while strolling around Jackson Square. Our conversation was unusual and inspiring and when we were through he told me that he had “a gift for me.” Surprised, I said “A gift for me?” He said yes, “VAZENDAH.” Never hearing that word before I asked “What is Vazendah?” to which he replied: “It is yours to create.”
As I walked away, like anyone with a smart phone, I immediately googled Vazendah but there were no results. Shortly thereafter, I purchased all of the URLS that went with the name and knew that someday I would create a company named Vazendah.
Throughout my career, I have been an entrepreneur, a Registered Nurse and a Healthcare executive. I am passionate about helping people who are ill as well as helping those who care for them. These jobs were stressful and I learned early on that massage helped me to process stress. However, after my encounter in New Orleans, I suddenly found myself very interested in all types of alternative medicine not only because my daughter Jessica was enrolled in school to become an Acupuncturist but I had a true curiosity to want to understand how it all worked. Additionally, after years of procrastination, I found myself taking control of my own health becoming a mindful eater, walking, doing yoga and losing weight. As my passion for wellness grew I obtained my well-coach certification and started to think about creating a wellness company; after all I already had the name…Vazendah.
Now, I am in my mid 60’s and feel better than I have in decades. I want to share what I have learned and help others feel good and be healthy. Rather than taking care of others when they are very ill, I want to help people prevent illness or if they are struggling with a disease, help them to find a path to minimize the impact of their disease so they can enjoy life. Research has shown that so many diseases are now preventable if you live a healthy lifestyle. Conventional medicine helps you when you have a specific diagnosis, but alternative medicine helps the whole body heal from the inside. Finding the right balance of both combined with lifestyle changes is the path to optimal well being.
My wellness journey began with a chance encounter in New Orleans. The gift I received, Vazendah, started my journey to optimal well being and now I would like to share that gift with you.
